Applicants must have at least a 2.75 GPA and be in good standing with the University. Their application must demonstrate their involvement on campus and provide a video response to the questions, "What does school spirit mean to you and how do you show it?" and "What is a platform, social awareness issue, non-profits, etc. that you are passionate about and why?" Six finalists were selected with three coming from primarly in-person classes and three from primarly online classes. Student Government - 2021 Apr 29 2021 South Carolina Tourism Student Award Lewis Lambert received the 2021 S.C. Tourism Student Award. The award was presented by S.C. Governor Henry McMaster at a ceremony at the governor’s mansion in March. Lambert is a hospitality, resort, and tourism management major with a 4.0 GPA. He is a member of Beta Gamma Sigma honor society and the Student Executive Leaders. He is also currently enrolled in the PGA Golf Management program and has completed internships at Carolina Lakes Golf Club, 521 BBQ & Grill, and the Hackler Course at CCU. Lambert was nominated unanimously by the CCU hospitality, resort, and tourism management faculty. Community Service - 2021 Apr 29 CCU students volunteer with Public Health Reserve Corps Two students from have distinguished themselves during the COVID-19 pandemic as Public Health Reserve Corps volunteers and staff. Haley Rissell, majoring in public health, began as a volunteer, then took a temporary position with SC DHEC to coordinate volunteer recruitment and placement for drive-through testing events. Lauryn Johnson, a biology major, has worked as a volunteer from dawn to dusk during many drive-through events. She has been on-site at venues as thousands of people streamed through to get the swab test for COVID-19.
